Q: What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is basically a titanium screw that acts to replace the root to support the restoration. It is initially held in by its’ thread, and after a few weeks it is integrated into the bone.

Q: Are you dental implant specialists?

This is a common misconception. There is no such thing as an 'Implant Specialist'.
As dental implants are a relatively new form of treatment, there is no form of training currently available that would qualify anyone to call themselves an 'Implant Specialist'.

Dr Beresford has studied extensively in the field of Dental Implant surgery and has invested heavily in the latest Implant technology and equipment. He has performed hundreds of implant procedures and is regularly invited to speak and train other dentists at seminars and courses.

Q: How successful is implant surgery?

Implant success is very very high, however it is not 100%. As a general rule; the success of the surgery is dependant on several things.

Patients' General Health:

Candidates should be in relatively good general health

Bone quality/quantity:

This will be assessed by Dr Beresford before any surgery is undertaken to determine whether implants are a suitable solution.

Training and Experience:

Dr Beresford has extensive training and experience in the field of Dental Implants. His implant surgery training is through the Sydney implant diploma, plus numerous other courses.

Technology and Planning:

Beresford Dental Implants possesses the latest technology available to assist with pre operative planning, and post operative care.

Placement:

Optimal placement of implants is the key to ensuring high success rates. Beresford Dental Implants possesses the latest CT Scanning machinery and advanced surgical planning software to make sure implants are placed correctly. This gives the best possible chance of success.

Q: How long before I see results?

Results can be visible immediately after surgery in most cases. Full treatment however, can take anywhere from 2 to 9 months (sometimes longer). Implant surgery procedures need time to ensure success. You will be provided with temporary teeth at all stages of the process.
